"The human body is the best picture of the human soul." --- Wittgenstein

My Approach

You speak; I listen and ask questions. We journey together through your experiences, feelings, and thoughts. Certain themes and issues emerge: we focus on them and look closely, progressing in depth. Through this, you understand yourself better day by day.

The Principle of Change

However, we don't just want to understand: we want to change certain things.

In fact, all our efforts and activities to understand are directed towards this goal.

That is, the therapy process we conduct together and the work we do must serve a purpose.

In the end, therapy must be beneficial.

The value and success of what a psychologist does lie only in this.

We want things to progress differently in your life because you are consulting with me.

Our sole purpose and job is for you to learn to feel differently, think differently, and act differently.

Notice: we want more than just for you to feel good after our meeting.

Most importantly, this provides us with an objective criterion: does therapy have any meaning and significance? Does the therapy process have any success?

Of course, you don’t want to pay money for no reason, without knowing what's happening and what you need.

But how can you understand this?

We fundamentally address this issue with the principle of change.

Do our therapy and discussions have any impact or function in your life?

With the investigative and understanding process we conduct together, do things start to change in your life, feelings, and thoughts?

That's our goal and our criterion!

My Advice to Clients

Suggestions to clients about how to approach the therapy and counseling process, informative and guiding especially when starting out.

Psychology is an area of health and well-being where it is perfectly natural to get professional help.

Then, if you feel you need such help or that consulting a psychologist will improve your life, how should you approach and begin this process?

The most important factor for a healthy and effective process of therapy/counseling is the match between you and your psychologist. You have to trust your psychologist, knowing that he or she has the capability for understanding you and has a sincere approach.

So you should choose a psychologist who can provide you such trust and rapport.

But how can you find the right psychologist? Of course through searching...

For this, however, it is imperative that you do not make the following common mistake. You do not have to continue with a psychologist just because you started out with him or her. If you have any doubts (for example "Does he really understand me?") it would be good to see another psychologist. Do not forget: at this stage of the process, you have not yet started the real work on your soul and life. You are at the preparatory stage where you put together the suitable conditions for that work.

What if you have been seeing a psychologist for a long time?

Of course in this case you should be more careful if you decide to see another psychologist. Yet if you have a persistent discomfort and doubt regarding your psychologist, then perhaps you should go back to the stage of 'searching for' your psychologist. For unfortunately your psychologist may not be inclined to see that your process is not proceeding effective enough. We have to acknowledge that financial benefit is part of the background to the psychologist's role in this process.

This is also exactly what I expect from my clients. Because only in this way can our work have significance and effect. Indeed, this constitutes the essence of my approach to the profession based on the 'Principle of Change' which I endorse.
